Prossy Mayanja, the mother of singer Douglas Mayanja, popularly known as Weasel Manizo, has opened up about her son’s struggle with depression following the death of his colleague, Mowzey Radio.

Mowzey Radio passed away in 2018 at Case Clinic in Kampala due to severe injuries sustained during a bar brawl. It is evident that Weasel was deeply affected by his singing partner’s demise.

During a recent interview on a local television, Prossy Mayanja spoke about how Weasel was emotionally shattered following Radio’s death.

“When Radio died, Weasel was on the verge of losing his sanity. He was completely broken, but as a mother, I noticed the signs and provided him with the necessary support. However, it was not an easy journey,” Mayanja shared.

She, however, expressed her disappointment with the media for exacerbating the situation by criticizing Weasel for allegedly failing to sustain the Goodlife music camp after Radio’s passing.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Prossy Mayanja stepped up as a pillar of support for her son.

“I understood that Weasel needed guidance and an outlet to release the immense stress he was carrying. I made it a point to have regular conversations with him, reminding him that despite the overwhelming loss, life must go on,” she explained.

As time went on, Weasel slowly began to regain his balance.

“The burden of sorrow didn’t completely fade, but he learned to carry on without his friend,” Prossy Mayanja revealed.
