Murder suspect requests Sh50m from court to pay for media advertisements for witness summons

Copriam Kasolo, a murder suspect, has requested Shs50 million from the High Court of Kampala so that he can use it to advertise witness summons in the media prior to his defense hearing.

The trial judge ruled on Monday that Kasolo and his co-accused have a case to answer and must therefore get their defense ready and call witnesses.

Kasolo is the key suspect in the 2019 deaths of social worker Maria Nagirinya and her driver, Ronald Kitayimbwa.

Nagirinya was kidnapped from her gate together with her driver, Kitayimbwa, after which their bodies were recovered in Mukono.

On February 22, Isaac Ssennabulya, Kasolo’s co-accused, received a 40-year prison term after confessing.

Meanwhile, Kasolo testified in court in March of this year that he was forced to confess to the killing after a police officer placed a gun in his mouth and cocked it.
