The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga has finally spoken out on not attending the launch of Nnabagereka’s book.

On March 28, 2023, the Nnaabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda Luswata launched her long-awaited autobiography, The Nnaabagereka, amid pomp and glamour at the Sheraton hotel in Kampala.

The event drew Uganda’s high-flying royals, corporates from the private sector, and prominent figures.

However, Katikkiro Mayiga was not present, which led some members of the public to assert that the Nnabagereka and some Buganda kingdom officials were still at odds.

Prior to his 10-year anniversary as prime minister of the Buganda kingdom, Katikkiro Mayiga spoke to the media this morning and asserted that it is strange for anyone to believe he has a problem with the Nnabagereka.

“It is wrong to assume that I have issues with the Nnabagereka of Buganda,” said Katikkiro Mayiga before giving his reason for not attending.

“I was absent from her book launch because I was away on leave. Those who read the book will realize that I wrote the forward. I support Maama Nnabagereka and I have always supported her projects including the Kisakaate,” he said.
