Bobi Wine must join UMA for us to assist him in regaining his performance freedom- Cindy

For the Uganda Musician Association (UMA) to assist singer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, a.k.a. Bobi Wine, in regaining his performing rights, he must either request their assistance or sign up with the association, according to UMA president Cindy Sanyu.

The government prohibited Bobi Wine from holding musical performances ever since he rose to prominence as an opposition leader.

While speaking at her surprise baby shower party which was organized by her UMA members, Cindy was asked why UMA hasn’t expressed concern about Bobi Wine’s inability to perform in Uganda for years.

Cindy clarified that UMA only defends the rights of its members.

“If Bobi Wine shows us that he needs us, we are ready to do whatever it takes to back him. But he hasn’t approached us,” said Cindy.

“UMA doesn’t go looking for you, if you need our help, you have to look for it. Because an association is structured in a way that it works with its members,” she added.
