“Namboole will not be ready by June,” says FIFA-certified security officer Dixon Okello after stadium inspection with Sports Minister Ogwang

FIFA-certified security officer Dixon Okello alias James Bond has revealed that Namboole Stadium, which is currently under renovation will not be by June when the Uganda Cranes host Algeria in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Last week, Sports Minister Peter Ogwang claimed that the stadium will be open by June 12.

“The game against Algeria will be played here in Namboole Stadium on 12th June. That is my promise to Ugandans,” he said.

However, after this morning’s inspection of the stadium, Okello believes that though UPDF engineers are doing a great job, they lack enough manpower to complete the stadium by June.

“This morning, together with the State Minister for Sports Hon.Peter Ogwang and MD Nambole Stadium Jamil Sewanyana, had an on-site inspection of the ongoing renovations at Nambole Stadium.

UPDF is doing a great job but there is still a lot to do for the stadium to be fully completed,” said Okello on his social media.

However, he believes that upon completion, Namboole will be fully cleared by FIFA and CAF, to host international matches.
