Former Archbishop Orombi airlifted to Nakasero for specialized treatment

Former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi, was airlifted to Kampala on Monday following his deteriorating health condition.

According to Nebbi Diocese Bishop Pons Ozelle, the retired Archbishop was rushed to Nakasero Hospital at 2:00 am for specialized treatment.

“His wife accompanied him and is by his side,” Ozelle told Daily Monitor.

“Our God is able. He (Orombi) is responding well so far. He is able to sit, talk now and ask sensible questions. He first asked for his Bible and reading glasses,” he added.

Orombi served as Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala Diocese from 2004 until his retirement in December 2012.

Last year, President Yoweri Museveni appointed Orombi, as the new Chancellor of Muni University on a four-year contract.

Orombi replaced Dr. Erick Tiyo Sekebuga Adriko, who served for two terms following his installation in 2016.
