The national broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) has announced that it will not broadcast the AFCON qualifier game between Uganda and Tanzania that is happening this Friday in Egypt.

UBC has been advertising that they will air the game live. However, this evening, the station released a statement revealing that they will not be able to air the game.

“Although African Union of Broadcasters (AUB), an agent of CAF had assured UBC of the broadcasting rights, the assurance was reversed,” reads the statement in part.

UBC‘s revelation comes after Uganda’s local football governing body, FUFA warned UBC against broadcasting the game.

FUFA, through their lawyer Ochieng Associated Advocates and Solicitors, sent UBC a notice saying they are the exclusive owners of the broadcasting rights of the Uganda Cranes.

In the notice, FUFA accused UBC of illegally advertising that they have broadcasting rights to the game.

The federation threatened to take legal action against UBC should they continue to advertise the game.
