AFCON U20: Why 18-year-old South Sudanese goalkeeper is going viral on social media

South Sudan’s U20 team secured a historic win last evening at the ongoing AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt.

South Sudan, who are debutants at the competition beat Central African Republic 1-0 to secure their first-ever win at the tournament. The win boosted their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

However, a photo of their goalkeeper, Godwill Yogusuk Simon Sabio, is going viral on social media.

Even though Sabio gave a stellar performance on the field, his tournament profile photo that CAF posted online is what has caused him to gain “worldwide attention.”

Sabio is just 18 years old, per the information posted by CAF. However, a lot of people on social media are making fun of his appearance given his age.

What we can say, however, is that the 18-year-old has a promising future.
