Watenga Godfrey Nabutanyi, a former Lutseshe county Member of Parliament (MP), accomplished the dream of many men over the weekend by officially marrying two women on the same day.

Watenga held a joint traditional ceremony for his two partners, Nanzala Beatrice and Nekesa Christine, at his home in Kuushu Town Council in Bududa district.

Although it is not accepted in Christianity, polygamy is permitted in Uganda’s traditional cultures and among Muslims.

Reports indicate that Watenga has been with his two women for over five years, and they have children together.

Hon. Pentagon Kamusiime, who was among the hundreds that attended the ceremony said; “I attended my colleague’s twin marriage. Hon. Watenga Godfrey Nabutanyi did a brave act by organizing a successful twin marriage I love his honesty because many men out there are not honest enough to do such.”
