Over the weekend in Zanzibar, comedian Dickson Lubega, aka Madrat, of the renowned Madrat and Chiko Comedy Group converted to Islam.
It has become popular to talk about his conversion to Islam, though.
In a video making the rounds on social media, Madrat recited the Shahada, or declaration of faith, in front of friends and family.
Madrat gave an explanation of what led to his conversion to Islam, claiming that his Christian friends had long betrayed him.
He mentioned how Muslims have supported him, citing the case of a one Juma, who assumed parental duties after his parents passed away.
“He unconditionally raised me without forcing me to convert,” he said.
Madrat said that he doesn’t believe in imposing his religious beliefs on others. Meanwhile, his Muslim name has not yet been made public.
