In the official Netball World rankings released by world netball, Uganda’s national netball team, She Cranes, has slipped back to seventh place.
According to the most recent rankings, which were published on August 15, 2022, Uganda had maintained its 6th place, which it had attained toward the end of the previous year and earned them automatic qualification to the World Cup the following year.
The She Cranes had just put on a strong display at the Commonwealth Games, where they finished fifth, their best-ever finish.
However, according to World Netball’s most recent rankings, the She Cranes missed out on some of their August and September matchups that could have earned them points for their ranking.
“Uganda’s and Jamaica’s rankings have been impacted by their failure to fulfill fixtures during August and September,” World Netball stated.
It should be noted that She Cranes snubbed the Africa Netball World Cup qualifiers. This was after the government failed to fund its campaign.
The She Cranes were given a Sh22 million fine by the international netball governing body for their tardy withdrawal, which they claimed caused competitors inconvenience.
The top sixteen seeds, meanwhile, will compete in the World Cup in South Africa in July of 2023.
