One of the fine artists whose works you may have seen somewhere during activation or at an art market is Amos Kalyesubula. He is one of Uganda’s best fine artists and makes a living from his work.
The 26-year-old began creating art at a young age, and by the time he entered Kitende Secondary School, he had already developed his fine art abilities.
His surroundings serve as inspiration for his art.
Kalyesubula has exhibited in different countries like USA, Long Beach California, Italy, Australia, Fiella Milano and St Petersburg in Russia among other places.
In Uganda, Kalyesubula has exhibited at National Theatre’s Craft Village, UMA Exhibition in 2018, Craft Village, and Kabaka’s Palace in Lubiri among others.
According to Kalyesubula, his works of art cost at least Sh800,000. The most expensive art piece he has ever sold was $1,500, and that was during an exhibition in St. Petersburg.
In addition to being an artist, Kalyesbula works as an IT specialist at Milday Health Centre in Lweza.
