Vipers Sports Club’s 18-man squad departed from Entebbe International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday morning (3 am) aboard Kenya Airways.
The team had been in Nairobi before departing for Lubumbashi at 7 am.
Vipers face DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League return leg game this Saturday. The first leg was played at St Mary’s Stadium last week and ended in a goalless draw.
The Ugandan champions beat Olympic Real De Bangui 4-0 on aggregate to reach the second round of the preliminary round.
The five-time CAF Champions League winner, TP Mazembe, received a bye in the first preliminary round.
The winner of the return leg will progress through to the lucrative group stage.
The Venoms are bidding to become the second club from Uganda to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stages after KCCA FC in 2018. But if they fail the Mazembe hurdle, they will drop to the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round.
