Sheebah Karungi has said that her nine-year business relationship with former manager Jeff Kiwa was never a one-sided affair as they both assisted each other in getting where they are now.
Sheebah, who was an upcoming artist before she was signed by Jeff Kiwa under Team No Sleep, asked the public to stop only crediting her former manager for her music career success.
“My journey with Jeff, like I always tell you, was a good journey. Like any other partnership, you reach a point and it ends and you have to move on, ” Sheebah said while addressing journalists on Wednesday.
According to Sheebah, she also deserves credit.
“It’s true Jeff helped me for the nine years we worked together, but I also helped him to reach where he is. With all due respect, now it is time for me to carry on. “He didn’t make me, we worked together and we got here,” she said.
Jeff Kiwa started managing Sheebah in 2013 after falling out with Radio and Weasel.
Since then, Sheebah has released lots of hit songs with her breakthrough being “Ice Cream”. The singer has never looked back as she’s now a formidable stakeholder in the Ugandan music industry.
In February 2020, Sheebah launched her own company, Sheebah Establishment LTD, and started setting up a series of businesses that include: Holic Pads, an events company, and a night club, among other ventures.
Also, under Jeff Kiwa’s guidance, Sheebah managed to complete her mansion in Munyonyo.
The two parted ways in 2021 over undisclosed issues.
Jeff Kiwa moved on and signed Pinky, while Sheebah is unofficially using Diriisa as her manager.
