Friday evening at the MTN Arena ended on a high note as four teams played Game Five of the Tusker Lite-sponsored National Basketball League.
The City Oilers and the JKL Lady Dolphins were the night’s expected winners hoping to lift their winning trophies but the Nam Blazers and the UCU Lady Canons came out victorious, pushing the playoffs to Game Six.
JKL Lady Dolphins who are women’s title holders lost 48-62 to university side UCU Lady Canons whilst City Oilers who have won the title for the past seven straight seasons lost 65-70 to newcomers Nam Blazers.
Game Six on Sunday could be decider.
Away from the court action, Vinka provided entertainment for basketball fans with a medley of her most popular songs at the half-time show.
Fans sang along to her songs like Malaika, Goodie Goodie, Amaaso as they sipped on their Tusker Lites and popcorn in anticipation for the night’s winner.
“Tonight has been an exciting one, the finals have always been fueled with lots of action, tension and enthusiasm. We are now watching closely for the Finals winner,” said Arnold Katabi, FUBA Vice President Marketing, Media and Publicity.
The National Basketball League games have been a frequent hotspot for basketball lovers since March.
