The United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have made it compulsory for passengers arriving at Dubai International Airport and applying for an on-arrival visa to bring with them not less than 5,000 United Arab Emirates Dirham (about Shs5m).
The rules that take effect on October 3 will require all visitors to provide proof of accommodation, showing the details of the hotel booking or the residence they intend to live in.
Meanwhile, anyone arriving at Dubai International Airport without money and proof of accommodation will immediately be deported from the UAE, says an alert issued in this regard.
Court dismisses Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana’s case consolidation bid
The International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kampala dismissed an application by the legal team of jailed legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana to consolidate case files at Masaka High Court and the International Crimes Division (ICD).
The two embattled MPs appeared before the ICD on Thursday, and Justice Alice Komuhangi ruled that consolidation of criminal cases is alien to Ugandan laws.
Komuhangi said that the suspects can be fairly tried both at the Masaka High Court and in the International Crimes Division Court.
Winnie Nwagi bounced out of a night spot
Swangz Avenue’s singer, Winfred Nakanwagi alias Winnie Nwagi, was bounced out of the Kisementi-based night spot, Club Illusion, for failure to pay an entrance fee.
Nwagi came out and ranted about the incident.
“An artist deserves the right to come into a club to enter for free, When you see Fire Babe coming with her friends, let her enter, ” said Nwagi.
Museveni appoints Age limit ‘promoter’ Simeo Nsubuga to the Human Rights Commission
President Museveni appointed former police spokesperson, Simeo Nsubuga, to the Uganda Human Rights Commission as a commissioner.
“Following the appointment of Col. Basaliza, Hon. Simeo Nsubuga, and Mr. Omara Apita as members of the UHRC by H.E. the President, the names were forwarded to Parliament for vetting,” said Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda.
Simeo Nsubuga was one of the loudest and most enthusiastic public supporters of the 2017 constitutional amendment, which scrapped presidential age limits.
Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi joins new club in Iraq
Uganda Cranes skipper Emmanuel Okwi finally sealed a move to Iraq’s giants Al-Zawraa Sports Club.
Okwi has been a free agent since June this year when his contract ran out at Rwanda Premier League outfits Kiyovu Sports Club.
The 14-time Iraq Premier League winners became Okwi’s 8th club after playing for SC Villa, Simba, Young Africans, Etoile Du Sahel, Al Ittihad, and Kiyovu Sports.
