A shocking video is making rounds on social as a member of parliament appears to punch a police officer on the head.

This evening, Members of Parliament went to the polls to fill the nine slots of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). The race has 28 candidates.

However, before the kickoff of the elections, chaos broke out at Parliament in what is believed to be vote rigging after a box full of pre-ticked ballots was found.

The MPs accused the police of participating in the rigging. Hence, Aringa South County MP Alioni York Odria decided to attack and punch a police officer at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The officer did not retaliate, but a fellow officer carried the MP away.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the ballots that were in the box were allegedly for the MPs who were rushing to go and sit for their exams, hence asking to vote early on.

By press time, vote counting was underway.
