The ministry of health has announced that a total of 16 people have contracted the highly contagious Ebola virus, while a further 18 people have also likely had the disease.
The outbreak has now spread to three districts (Mubende, Kyegegwa, and Kassanda).
“The Ministry of Health Rapid Response Teams remain on the ground to list and follow up on contacts for the confirmed cases,” the ministry said on Sunday.
Four people have already died from the virus, while 17 are also suspected to have died from the virus.
Last week, the health ministry declared an outbreak, attributed to the relatively rare Ebola Sudan strain, in the central district of Mubende at the beginning of September. The first casualty was a 24-year-old man.
