New Corporate League entrants I&M Bank proved that they are not only experts in money matters but also a force to be reckoned with when it comes to football. The bank was the team to watch at the seventh outing of the ongoing season of the Corporate League that took place at Kings Park in Bweyogerere on Sunday 28th August 2022.
The bank started operations in Uganda in November last year, following the acquisition and rebrand of Orient Bank.
The bank participated in 6 soccer games out of which they won 4 games, drew one, and lost one game garnering 15 points in just one outing.
The day saw the team take on some strong teams including the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, Pay Way, Postal Uganda, and National Water among others. However, the most notable games were I&M’s first game of the day against Engie Energy Access which ended in a 2-1 victory, and their match against Uganda Breweries Limited where they registered a 3-0 win.
Speaking at the games I&M Bank’s Team Manager Godfrey Odoch said that they are confident in their performance and are ready to fight for the championship this season.
“I also want to point out that taking part in this league is not just for the thrill of it. We get the opportunity to network with other corporate entities and potential clients,” he said.
The corporate league is a 20-year-old sports tournament that attracts different corporate companies all over the country who take part in small-sided football.
The 2022 season started in February and will come to an end in November. Participating brands and companies compete in a plethora of games that include football, netball, swimming, and Tag of War among others.
