Several Ugandans in the diaspora are among the thousands of people that have graced this year’s Rotary Cancer run.
Despite the main event being at Kololo Airstrip this morning, hundreds of people took part in the run from their respective cities across the world.
The staff of Uganda High Commission Dar es Salaam, together with Tanzanian Rotarians, Rotaractors, and well-wishers, participated in the run by taking a 5km walk around Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam.
Also, the staff of the Uganda High Commission in Kigali, Rwanda, led by the Deputy Head of Mission. Amb. Anne Katusiime, the Under-18 handball team from Uganda, some members of the Rotary Club Rwanda, and the Ugandan Diaspora in Rwanda participated in the 11th Edition of the Rotary Cancer Run.
The funds collected from the participants will be transferred to the Rotary Cancer Account in Uganda.
The Rotary cancer run has been going on for the past seven years with an aim of raising funds to set up facilities for Cancer treatment in Uganda.
In total, over Shs3.6billion has been raised, and many other forms of support in kind have been rendered to facilitate the fight against cancer in Uganda.
