The body of a nine-year-old boy who went missing in Nansana on July 9 has been found submerged in a septic tank, police say.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, the parents of Bukenya Imran, aged 9, reported the case at the Wamala police post.
“The police have been searching for the child until yesterday when police at Wamala received information that an unidentified body was seen floating in the septic tank at the home of Semaganyi Eria,” said Owoyesigyire.
He revealed that the police fire prevention and rescue services retrieved the body, which was in a decomposing state.
“The team found a 20-litre jerrican with suspected kerosene which had been poured into the septic tank to disguise the smell of the decomposing body. All items recovered have been exhibited,” he said.
Owoyesigyire said that the body of the deceased child was later identified by the mother.
The two suspects have been arrested. These are Ssemaganyi Eria and Ssalongo Bweseri. They are detained at Nansana main station to help in investigations.
