Former presidential candidate Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and his colleague Samuel Mukaku Lubega have been granted a cash bail of Shs2.5 million each by Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Douglas Singiza and Shs500,000 non-cash to the sureties.

The cadre magistrate ordered the duo who have been incarcerated since June 15, not to make any public comments about the case until its hearing is complete.

Yesterday, High Court Judge Tadeo Asiimwe declined to release Besigye and Mukaku on bail saying that they have to first exhaust the administrative functions of the Magistrate Court.
