Gospel artist George Timothy Lubega alias Exodus has opened up about his personal struggles in the last years as a celebrity.

Last weekend during Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s concert, Exodus publically apologized saying he was an alcoholic.

However, in an interview on local television this morning, the ‘Igwe’ singer explained that he apologized after fighting depression and he had reached the point of taking his life away because of what people were saying about him.

“Coming out to apologize came after I overcame depression. I once got to a point where I desired to end my life because of what people were talking about me,” Exodus narrated.

The singer also went ahead and narrated his difficult times in the church.

“When I joined Miracle Center, I faced so many challenges the devil used people to be against me.  Members of the mass choir were so against me and couldn’t allow me to step on stage,” said Exodus.

He further explained that even though he faced some challenges after becoming a born-again Christian he couldn’t deny the fact that the church paved a way for him.

“Exodus’ life before joining the church was full of pain and hustle. I grew up seeing death around me. Right from my father’s house to the streets, death was always haunting me,” said Exodus.
