Emmanuel Sabiiti, the former Makerere University lecturer who is accused of hacking his daughter and maid to death before injuring another child, was finally arrested yesterday.

Sabiiti was arrested from areas of Buhweju district where he had fled after the incident.

While speaking to the police, Sabiiti confessed to having committed the crimes but said that he was provoked by the woman he had been with for about 15 years in marriage.

“I was provoked by the woman. She always told me that the children we have are not mine,” Sabiiti said.

Sabiiti also disclosed that when he retired from Makerere, he wanted to join his woman in the business he had set up for her.

“She denied me access to the business, something that frustrated me,” he said.

Sabiiti also stated that the woman has been openly cheating on him.

“One time she also lied that the pregnancy was mine yet when had spent over two years without sleeping together,” he said.

Sabiiti, however, apologized for his grave actions.
