Yesterday social media was awash with news of a Ugandan passenger who was confirmed dead on arrival at Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday.
According to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the deceased, Yusuf Kulembera, was aboard the Ethiopian Airlines flight number ET334 and landed at 1:47 pm on May 17.
Ahmed Jjingo, a son of the deceased, is quoted by The Observer saying that he learnt about his father’s demise from one of the travellers that called him.
He revealed that his father was returning from Saudi Arabia via Addis Ababa.
“I received a phone call from a man who claimed to be my father’s friend,” said Jjingo.
He added, “I left immediately for the airport. When I reached the airport, I found my father’s body lying on a stretcher at the back of an ambulance. I boarded the ambulance and we went to the city mortuary in Mulago.”
Jjingo said that the post-mortem report, issued on Wednesday, May 18, indicates that his father died as a result of blood clots. He also disclosed that his father was working in the transport sector in Saudi Arabia.
