Last week, singer Sheebah Karungi took to her social media and shared how a client tried to sexually harass her.
Sheebah’s allegations caused mixed reactions. A number of social media users pinned renowned journalist Andrew Mwenda, and this forced him to call out Sheebah to state clearly what occurred to her.
However, police has confirmed that the singer made a formal complaint regarding the alleged sexual assault case on Tuesday.
In a statement released by the police on Tuesday, they noted that Sheebah gave all the details required concerning the incident.
“During the interaction with the CID officers, Sheebah revealed the details of the individual who was involved and the related circumstances.
In her complaint, she clearly mentions the suspect and refutes the ongoing speculation in sections of the media that it was Andrew Mwenda,” said Police spokesperson Fred Enanga in a statement.
According to Enanga, the CID has instituted inquiries into the case.
“A team of detectives has commenced investigations on the matter to ensure justice for the victim. We do thank Sheebah for having the courage to report the matter and assure the public that as police we take matters of Gender-Based Violence seriously,” said Enanga.
