Appearing before the Committee on Presidential Affairs on Thursday, the Office of the President asked for Shs2.8 billion in the next financial year budget to instill morals in Ugandans to fight corruption.

This comes a few weeks after the IGG, Betty Kamya, said that the Shs67 billion allocated to her office is insufficient yet the country loses trillions of shillings every year in corruption.

However, the parliamentary committee questioned the funding priorities, citing extravagance and unguided priorities.

Also, the Budget Committee was hesitant to continue funding the Presidential Village Model project in favour of the newly introduced Parish Development Model (PDM).

Meanwhile, Parliament has allocated Shs429 billion to the Office of the President in operational funds for the next financial year.
