The Finance Ministry has reportedly released Shs1.2 billion to Parliamentary Commission for burial arrangements of late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
There has been an alteration in releasing the funds as the local burial committee chairperson for Jacob Oulanya’s burial, Okello Dauglas Peter, revealed yesterday that they have not received money from the National Organizing Committee and they are limping due to a lack of funds to adequately prepare.
Chris Obore, the director of communications at Parliament, has revealed that the funds were released last evening.
“I can now confirm that the Finance Ministry has released Shs1.2b to the Parliamentary Commission for burial arrangements of the late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah. The Commission will work with the National Organising Committee to ensure a decent send-off, “said Obore.
Meanwhile, it’s all set at Parliament, where the body of the former speaker will lie, as legislators pay tribute to him in a special sitting starting at 10 a.m.
