Beginning Wednesday, March 30, 2022, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) has officially waived an entry fee for ladies who will attend any of the Wednesday league games.
“The federation took this initiative in a bid to grow the numbers of basketball fans as well as encourage more women to watch more of the action-packed National Basketball League games sponsored by Tusker Lite,” says FUBA Vice President Marketing, Media and Publicity, Arnold Katabi.
Before this move, FUBA had been charging Shs10,000 per ticket during the midweek games. This new initiative to attract more females to the game of basketball will be on offer for the rest of the regular season.
“For Tusker Lite, these games are an opportunity for fans of basketball and friends, in general, to connect over an exciting game of basketball. We applaud FUBA’s move to make the league more inclusive. This is a good gesture as we conclude the Women’s month of March,” shared Elizabeth Mutamuliza, Tusker Lite Brand Manager.
Today’s games will have the KCCA Leopards take on winless A1 Challenge in the Women division, a game that promises to bring a lot of excitement on court with the UPDF Tomahawks taking on the seven-time record defending champions City Oilers in the men’s division at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
The City Oilers have won two in three this season; they were defeated by Nam Blazers (65-72) in the opening game before bouncing back with victories over KCCA Panthers (80-46) and Victoria University (97-55).
