President Yoweri Museveni has cautioned leaders who are speculating about fallen Speaker Jacob Oulanya’s cause of death.
In his speech at the election of the Speaker and Deputy of Parliament in Kololo, Museveni accused the leaders of engaging in cheap politics.
“I have heard some people say Oulanyah was killed. They are taking advantage of problems to play politics,” said Museveni before asking the police to go for them.
Museveni explained that Oulanyah died in a reputable hospital and that the cause of his death was well-known to the doctors.
“For someone who is educated to go and say he was killed, NO. We can not mourn with this indiscipline,” he said.
According to Museveni, he first learned about Oulanyah’s health issues last year when he was taken to Dubai for treatment. He said since then, he has been following up.
Oulanyah’s death drew mixed reactions from both his parents, relatives, and a section of citizens and leaders from the Acholi sub-region.
While addressing mourners on Sunday from his home in Ayom Lony village in Lalogi sub-county, Omoro district, Oulanyah’s father Nathan L’Okori claimed his son didn’t die of a natural cause but was killed.
Lokori said he is only waiting for an official report about the death of his son from President Museveni.
