The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has weighed in on the public expression of protest following Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo’s comments that have since been termed as tribal.
While condemning the demonstrations that took place in Seattle, US, where the fallen Speaker, Oulanyah, was hospitalized, Owiny Dollo alleged that the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, used a presidential jet to fly to Germany for treatment.
Katikkiro Mayiga says that though he understands that death brings anger and a lack of understanding, he urges leaders not to spread false information.
”Death causes shock, grief, and anguish and it often makes emotions run high. That is why it is required of all of us to be calm during difficult times like this,” says Mayiga.
He dismisses the Chief Justice’s claims that the Kabaka used the presidential jet to travel to Germany for treatment.
“The Kabaka used KLM Royal Dutch Airlines,” he says.
He reveals that the people of Buganda and Acholi have enjoyed a good relationship for many years, and it’s not about to change.
