For the first time, the National Unity Platform (NUP) President Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi, has publicly commented on parliament’s decision to remove his “blue-eyed man” Francis Zaake from the office of Commissioner of Parliament.
Last week, 155 MPs voted in support of removing Zaake from office and only four voted against it.
Speaking after meeting with a delegation from the US Department of State led by Ms. Lisa Peterson and US Ambassador for Uganda Natalie Brown, Bobi Wine said Zaake is still their Commissioner in Parliament.
“Zaake was removed as the commissioner of parliament not in a lawful way! I am here to tell you that Zaake Francis is still our commissioner,” Bobi Wine told journalists.
Through his lawyers, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Zaake filed an application on Thursday challenging his removal from the Parliamentary Commission by Members of Parliament.
