Uganda Cranes midfielder, Farouk Miya has escaped ‘war-torn’ Ukraine to the UK.
Miya, who had just joined Ukrainian side FC Lviv last month, managed to leave the country safely after Russia’s invasion.
Sources reveal that Miya is staying with former Crystal Palace player Ibra Ssekajja.
The Ukrainian league was set to kick start last Friday and Miya was most likely was to have his debut against FK Oleskandria the following day .
However, following the instabilities in the country, the league was suspended for at least 30 days without action.
According to the UN Refugee Agency, nearly 370,000 people have fled Ukraine since Russia launched a military invasion last week. It says that half of those fleeing have headed to Poland, where U.S. forces are helping with preparations for new arrivals, while other displaced civilians have left for Hungary, Moldova, and Romania.
