In January, President Museveni approved the NSSF Amendment act which allows mid-term access to savings of 20% for members who are 45 years and above and have saved for a minimum of 10 years.

According to today’s New Vision, Workers eligible for the 20% NSSF mid-term access should start the countdown as payment is expected to start in 10 days.

“A source that has been at the forefront of the process  told New Vision that the regulations have been completed and okayed by the stake holders and only await  signing by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social development, Hon. Betty Amongi,” states the publication.

The publication however maintains that the source declined to reveal details on the eligible   category that is scheduled to access the money first.

The leader of National Organisation of Trade Unions, Usher Wilson Owere, who has been part of the consultative process for drafting the regulation confirmed the news to the publication.

“As stakeholders, the minister brought the regulations and we cleared them. We have the final copy of the regulations and whatever is remaining is  on her (Minister’s) part,” Owere states.

Owere added that the minister is  only left with  tabling the matter to Parliament to show the August House how they  are ready to start the payment process.
