During and after the 2021 general elections, hundreds of ordinary people suspected of supporting opposition politicians have been abducted by security forces.
Some have been brought to court with deep marks of torture on their bodies. Yesterday, National Unity Platform (NUP) Coordinator and Mobilizer for Kasese District, Masereka Samuel displayed deep marks and wounds to journalists.
Masereke said he was abducted by security operatives who tortured him after he refused to divulge NUP’s plans.
His photos have since attracted public attention with the majority condemning perpetrators of torture.
Afande Asan Kasingye, the Police Political Commissar has also spoken against torture.
“Any person who tortures another, should rot in hell!” said Kasingye in a tweet.
