Martha Mukisa is arguably one of the most promising female talents in the Ugandan music industry.
The songstress has been consistent with her artform, dropping consistent hits in a space of just two years.
From the strain that brought Kikomando and Sango, a notable feature with Eddy Kenzo, now comes Busy.
On her most recent effort, Mukisa deploys Brian Beats’ talents to set her up for a heavily based afro-beat instrumental.
Despite the heavily consistent base, the accompanying afro-beats inspire a soothing melody in which Martha subtly asks her significant other to be content with who she is.
Martha confesses to her lover’s hypnosis that bamboozles her, body and soul. She craves his love and attention if only he weren’t busy, hence the title of the track.
Busy thins the line between genres as afro-beats, subtle dancehall, and RnB.
Busy is the kind of song that will get lovebirds in their feelings while getting party animals grooving on the dancefloor.
The video
Directed by Elly W Mugisha, the video is essentially a kaleidoscope of dance with Martha and dancers grooving to the groovy beats in a multitude of scenes.
The video borders between the zen and minimalistic as dance scenes are interspersed with scenes between Martha and her busy lover.
Elly employs a little flair of the dramatic when Martha hoods her lover up and whisks him away to a safehouse.
From then on, the plot thickens.
Martha Mukisa positions herself as one of the talents to watch out for this year and this is an impressive effort thus far.
