A group of armed thugs attacked Kensington Police Post in Kyanja last night at about 2 am.

Reports indicate that the unknown gunmen were riding on a motorcycle before they fired bullets at the police post.

Luke Owowesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson confirmed the incident but said that nobody was injured in the fracas nor was any gun taken.

There is an increase in attacks on police posts in Uganda, and according to police, most attacks aim at stealing guns.

At the start of this month, about seven unknown gunmen attacked Busiika police station in Luweero district and killed two police officers (Detective Inspector Alex Wagaluka, the OC CID for the station, and constable Moses Ongol) and injured two other officers, Adrian Ochom and Stephen Odama. The attack happened at around 7:30 pm.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said that whereas the motive of the assailants is not yet known, the fact that they killed, injured, and robbed two guns shows they targeted guns, police personnel, and the facility at large.
