Human rights activist surrenders to police after stabbing her husband to death

After fatally stabbing her husband, Dr. Joseph Etuk, Francesca Amony, a lawyer and human rights activist, turned herself in to the police in Gulu.

According to reports, the couple reportedly had an argument on Friday night around 11 p.m. at their home in Keyi “A” Cell in Kabedpong Ward, Gulu City.

Etuk, who passed away while being transported to the Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, was allegedly stabbed by Amony.

Following the incident, Amony reported herself for an alleged murder to the Lacor police station in Gulu City.

Aswa River regional police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong confirmed the incident and said that a team of homicide detectives visited the scene and found the knife.

The deceased was a medical doctor in Mbarara city.

Amony is no stranger to violence; in fact, in 2019, the Gulu High Court found her guilty of two counts of aggravated torture of her two housemaids.
