A fatal collision involving one car and five motorcycles resulted in the deaths of five people

Seven other people were hurt in the accident that occurred this morning at the Kabuusu roundabout in Rubaga Division.

The traffic police spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima, said that the motor vehicle involved, registration number UBH 321T, Isuzu Elf, was being driven by a one Ssembatya Gerald, while the five motorcycles involved were all Bajaj Boxers, UFN 226F, UET 422T, UEZ 579U, UFH 520P, UEX 504C and a bicycle (sport bike).

The deceased have been identified as Nansubuga Florence, a passenger on a bike, Ssemfuma, Ssemata Gerald, and Semei Ndondo, all riders, and one person that was also riding yet to be identified.

The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to KCCA mortuary for postmortem examination, while the injured victims were rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital, for treatment.

According to Faridah, the Isuzu ELF truck was to blame for the collision because it lost control as it approached the Kabuusu roundabout from Rubaga Road, striking and knocking five motorcycles and a bicycle.
