Police intensify crackdown on criminal gangs, 60 suspects arrested

Jinja Road joint security team carried out intelligence-led operations on Monday on black spots to net notorious criminals in the area.

The operations were carried out in the areas of Mutungo, Kinawataka, Mbuya, Bugolobi, and the surrounding areas, where alleged hardcore criminals were arrested.

In the course of the operation, 60 suspects were detained, and evidence like opium, burglary tools, and possibly stolen property were recovered.

According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, the screening was done and 50 suspects were taken to Nakawa court and charged with public nuisance.

“The operation continues throughout KMP,” he said.
