Tooro MPs want COSASE to stop the probe into Uganda Airlines’ mess

Tooro Members of Parliament led by Alex Ruhunda, the Chairperson of the Tooro/Rwenzori Parliamentary Forum, want the Committee on Commissions, Statutory and State Enterprises (COSASE) probe into the Uganda Airlines operations under the leadership of Jenifer Bamuturaki dropped.

Last week, COSASE kicked off the Uganda Airlines probe into losses amounting to over Shs160b, lack of job grades, strategic plan, poor management of contract files, and failure to seek approval from the National Information Technology Authority – NITA Uganda for procurement of IT software, among others.

COSASE questioned the requisite qualifications of Bamutaraki before putting her on the spot for enormous paychecks at the institution, with her position earning Shs87m monthly.

However, Alex Ruhunda, the Tooro/Rwenzori Parliamentary Forum Chairperson, claims that the probe is a direct attack on the Tooro kingdom.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, the chairperson of COSASE, Joel Ssenyonyi, claimed that Tourism Minister Tom Butime is threatening him.

“Yesterday, I got a call from Tourism Minister Tom Butime, threatening and intimidating me over the Uganda Airlines probe, because apparently, Jennifer Bamuturaki is his relative,” read Ssenyonyi’s tweet in part.
