Former Miss World Uganda, Oliver Nakakande, is set to represent Uganda at the 10th edition of the Miss Grand International (MGI).
The MGI pageant is scheduled to be held on October 25 at the Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor Regency, Indonesia, where at least 90 countries are expected to take part.
Nakakande will first fly to the USA to attend the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) Causes. This year’s UNAA Causes will be held from September 3-6 in Las Vegas.
Nakakande, who is the winner of the 2019-2020 Miss World Uganda beauty pageant, says that she will use the platform to make the voices of Ugandan women heard across the world.
She is passionate about empowering teenage mothers who have dropped out of school and is an advocate for second chances.
Oliver Nakakande emerged as Miss World Uganda in the year 2019, but her reign was extended to 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
She is active on the international stage as a fashion model, speaker, humanitarian, and volunteer.
She represented Uganda at the 69th Miss World and became Miss World Magazine’s Cover Girl and Fourth Runner Up for Miss World Top Model.
