President Yoweri Museveni has disclosed that Democratic Party president Norbert Mao is a great addition to his government as he (Mao) will use his vast leadership experience to unite the people of Uganda.

Mao took the oath this afternoon as the new Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony, Museveni said the appointment of Mao as the Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister is part of the NRM government’s efforts to keep Uganda stable and strong.

“Mao has got his individual qualities as a leader which I have been watching for a long time.

“Mao is our old efforts of uniting Uganda so that it becomes stable and sustainably strong,” said Museveni.

While addressing journalists on Tuesday, Mao said he is in government to oversee a peaceful transition from President Museveni to another leader.

Last week, Museveni and Mao, representing NRM and DP respectively, signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement has since been criticized by opposition players.
