Uganda’s Oscar Chelimo has won bronze after finishing third in the men’s 5000m final at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA.

Chelimo finished strong at 13:10.20 with a season’s personal best time. Chelimo, Jacob Kiplimo’s elder brother, won the first heat in 13:24.24 to qualify for the final.

He takes Uganda’s medal tally to three (gold and two bronze) on the event’s final day. And it’s Chelimo’s second medal in his career, as his first medal came in the boys’ 3000 metres at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He won the bronze medal.
