Though we well know that the main goal of participating in the World Athletics Championships is to win medals and set records, you should know that for this event, there is also the opportunity to earn some prize money.

With almost 2,000 competitors from 192 countries taking part in the ongoing track and field event in Oregon, USA, a total of almost $8.5 million (about Shs32 billion) is up for grabs this year.

Last evening, Joshua Cheptegei made Uganda proud as he defended his world title in the men’s 10,000m. His teammate, Jacob Kiplimo, settled for bronze.
