KING OF 10,000M! Joshua Cheptegei becomes the fourth athlete to win back-to-back world 10,000m championships as Kiplimo wins bronze

Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei Joshua Cheptegei has added another medal to his name. Cheptegei won gold in the 10,000-meter race at the ongoing World Athletics Championships with a time of 27.27.43.

He becomes the fourth athlete to win back-to-back world 10,000m after Ethiopians Haile Gebrselassie, Kenenisa Bekele, and Briton Mo Fara. In 2019, Cheptegei won the 10,000m at the World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Meanwhile, Jacob Kiplimo finished third in the 10,000m with 27.27.93 and won bronze. Kenya’s Stanley Mburu claimed silver in 27:27.90.

Cheptegei and Kiplimo’s medals are the first two medals for Uganda at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Also, Chepetegei has managed to get sweet revenge on Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega, who beat him to gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Joshua has won many accolades since putting behind his poor display in 2017 at Kololo.

He is already an Olympic, world, and double Commonwealth Champion.
