R. Kelly’s alleged victim claims they are engaged, requests for lenient sentence

Just about two weeks after singer Robert Sylvester Kelly, popularly known as R. Kelly, was sentenced to 30 years in jail after his September 2021 conviction on charges of child exploitation and racketeering, Joycelyn Savage, one of the alleged victims of the R&B singer, has claimed that she is engaged to R. Kelly and requested a lenient sentence for him.

In her letter to District Court Judge Ann Donnelly, Savage appealed for a lenient sentence for the singer as she shared details of their relationship.

Savage’s letter in part: “I am not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be.”

Savage, who claimed that she is deeply in love with the star, added that her relationship with R. Kelly is the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

She noted that the disgraced singer always made sure her needs were met, as well as any other women he was with.

“It breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that says I am a victim.” “I am a grown woman and I can speak for myself, which is why I wanted to provide this letter to the court,” reads the letter.

In June, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years behind bars. Kelly, who denied all charges, was also found in violation of an anti-sex trafficking law.
