“Spice Diana should be in jail,” says family of casual labourer who was battered from the singer’s home

The family of the late Henry Nsamba, a 27-year-old man who was allegedly beaten at singer Spice Diana’s home in Makindye and later died at Mulago Hospital, wants her in jail.

The family revealed that it has been four days since Nsamba died, but the singer is busy with her gigs while they are in the pain of losing their son.

The father of the deceased, Johnson Matovu, narrated that his son was a bricklayer turned musician. To that effect, he had grown dreadlocks and joined a small group of musicians in the area of Makindye.

” I discouraged him from pursuing music, but in vain. As a result of our disagreements over his career path, Nsamba moved out of my house and started renting nearby. I last saw him a couple of days before his death, “said Matovu.

He added that on July 1, he received a call from a lady who introduced herself as a medical worker at Mulago and told him to find his son’s body at the city mortuary.

“For me, there were more questions than answers. I don’t know the identity of the caller who rang me. All she volunteered was that my son was found naked and unconscious after a fatal beating. He also never had any identification on him,” Matovu revealed.

The sister of the late Nsamba, Gorreti Petra, said that all they want is justice and nothing else, and the first suspect is Spice Diana. Petra stated that they want her to be arrested.

The police in Katwe, who are dealing with the case, already summoned Spice Diana to go and record a statement. She had not appeared by press time.

However, Spice Diana’s manager, Roger Lubega, insists the singer has nothing to do with the death of the young man and they only got to know about the matter through the press.
