The Joint Security teams from Kampala Metropolitan Police, Flying Squad, Mukono Police, and UPDF, have so far arrested 10 notorious suspects, who form part of the criminal network that has been behind a series of armed robberies in Mukono District.
The suspects have been identified as; Reagan Ndugga, John Kalyango, Nathan Kirumira, Eria Kizito, William Mugalu, Sam Mbogo, Ismael Ssekkubulwa, Asuman Kinagodawa, Umaru Katende, and Golola.
Speaking during the weekly security press conference at police headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed the development, saying the suspects were found with items believed to be used in the spate of robberies that have since risen in the municipality.
Enanga revealed that during the joint operations, suspected stolen items, including five motorcycles and two motor vehicles, were recovered, adding to the gun that was found in a car during investigations into the Mukono supermarket robbery incident.
Also, pangas, knives, screwdrivers, and car-breaking equipment were recovered.
Enanga further stated that the suspects have already admitted to having participated in 13 robberies in Mukono since December last year.
Last week, two armed thugs raided Spice supermarket in Mukono municipality and shot the cashier before making away with an unspecified amount of money. The suspects behind this attack were arrested days later.
