Celebrating the 73rd birthday of legendary artiste Moses Matovu

The Ugandan composer and leader of the Legendary Music Band, Afrigo Band, Moses Matovu, was treated to a surprise birthday party at Levels Lounge.

Matovu was born on June 19, 1949, in Kampala. His parents are Abdallah Bukenya and Solome Nakitto.

On Monday, he was celebrated by fellow artistes that included Afrigo Band members, Bebe Cool, and Fun Factory’s Richard Tuwangye, among others.

Who is Moses Matovu?

Moses Matovu studied at Namirembe Primary School before joining Kibuli Secondary School and Pillai’s Secondary School, where he received both his UCE and UACE certificates.

He started singing in 1965 when he was the lead vocalist for the Thunderbirds band. He also played the saxophone.

In 1975, he joined Afrigo Band as one of the eight founding members; they started as a small group playing at small parties and clubs in Kampala.
